With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kevin Paul Phelps, who departed this life on January 27, 2025, in Cordele, Georgia.
Born on September 28, 1969, in San Antonio, Texas, Kevin was a man of adventure, charisma, and boundless energy—a soul too vibrant to ever be forgotten.
A proud graduate of Crisp County High School, Class of 1987, Kevin answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. During his dedicated military career, he was stationed in various areas to include Germany, served courageously in Desert Storm, South Korea and was later assigned to Fort Devens and Fort Sill before completing his service. His time in the Army shaped him into the strong, fearless man his family and friends knew and loved.
To know Kevin was to witness a truly carefree spirit. He embraced life with an infectious energy—whether dancing to his favorite songs, putting his thoughts to paper through poetry, or simply bringing joy to those around him. He had a way of making people laugh, of reminding others to live in the moment, and of turning ordinary days into unforgettable memories.
Kevin is now reunited with his beloved wife, Michelle Phelps, and his parents, Thomas Greene Phelps Sr. and Fannie Mae Phelps. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—one of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family.
He is survived by his loving children: Kalea (Phelps) Urquhart (Keon Urquhart), Kaywren Phelps, Karisa Phelps, and K'Run Phelps. His legacy continues in his cherished grandchildren, Reagan, Ryan, and Kai. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas G. Phelps Jr., and his sister, Stephanie Phelps, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him immensely.
Though Kevin’s physical presence is no longer with us, his laughter, his stories, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His journey on Earth may have ended, but his impact will remain eternal.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at a later date to honor the remarkable man he was.
Rest easy, Kevin. Dance freely, write endlessly, and know that you were deeply loved.
Please keep this family in your prayers.
