Mr. George (BEAN) Ross

George Jim “Bean” Ross was born to the late Jerry
Ross and the late Tiny Mae Wilson Ross on July 28, 1943, in
Dooly County. His earthly mission ended on June 12, 2019, at
his home.
Acquiring the age of seventy-five years, George (Bean), as he
was affectionately known, was educated in the Crisp County
Public School System in Cordele, Georgia.
After his education, Bean worked to assist his family. He
worked several jobs until he eventually found a home at Golden
Peanut, from which he retired after 30-plus years of service.
He was a faithful worker and received accolades throughout
his career. He was known for his generosity throughout his
community.
He came to know Christ in the year 1989, under the leadership
of Pastor James Wedges. He served faithfully as a deacon at
Cordele Bible Baptist until God called him home.
Though he did not have any children, he was family focused.
He neglected his education to ensure the completion of his
younger sisters’ education. He was adored by all his nieces,
nephews, and adopted kin. He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother, and six sisters.
Bean may have left us here, but his warm smile, words of
wisdom, and his generosity will keep him close to our hearts.
Left to cherish his memories are: his siblings, Leila Ross,
Texanna (Willie) Grant, Lille (James) Stembridge, and Oliva
Ann (Eddie) Grant, all of Cordele, GA; a godson, Shaquan
Grant, also of Cordele; a devoted nephew, Johnny Batts; and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, all
who mourn his departure and miss him dearly.
